The Gahanna-Jefferson Board of Education is elected by the community to set priorities, establish policies and evaluate the outcomes of district operation. The Superintendent is the district’s chief academic officer and the board of education's chief executive officer.

On behalf of the board, the superintendent identifies trends, needs and policies, develop regulations, provide leadership, and manage the day-to-day operation of the district. The superintendent works along side the district Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer to recommend and manages an annual spending plan based upon the parameters set by the board of education.

Superintendent Mark White

Welcome to the Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools Web site. In the Gahanna-Jefferson community, we take pride in our diversity, our excellent quality of life, and the success of our local schools. Our district is committed to helping its students to be successful and to thrive after they graduate from our school system. We are known for our rigor and accomplishments, and just as importantly, for the manner in which we regard and respect our young people and their parents.

Our students are presented with challenging course work and are taught by motivated professionals. Over 80% of our graduates attend some form of secondary education in universities across the nation. We are proud of their accomplishments, and we realize education is a journey that begins in kindergarten and goes well beyond a four-year bachelor’s degree.

The future will belong to those who can creatively apply information in new ways, and we are pushing our staff members to constantly reflect upon their curriculum, instruction, and assessment to insure that they are meeting the needs of today’s students so that they will be prepared for the world they will face tomorrow.  Our mission is to maintain a district that is defined by our motto, “Where Students Come First.” I look forward to working with you and with members of our Gahanna-Jefferson community as we continue to make strides in the education of our young people!

Sincerely,

Mark White

Superintendent
