2012 Cornerstone & Alumni Hall of Fame Award Celebration

Image: GJEFThe Gahanna-Jefferson Education Foundation (GJEF) hosted a community celebration on Friday, May 4, 2012, to introduce and induct the 2012 GLHS Cornerstone & Alumni Hall of Fame Awardees. The event began with a private luncheon for the awardees at 11:30 a.m. and climaxed with a community reception at 1 p.m. The LHS Chorale provided the musical entertainment.

The GLHS Alumni Hall of Fame was created to recognize graduates who through their performance and achievement brought credit and honor to themselves and to Gahanna Lincoln High School. This year's awardees are:
  • Brad W. deSilva, MD., an assistant professor with the OSU Medical Center (Class of 1994)
  • Connie DeJong, an OSU Arts Scholars Coordinator and executive director of the Global Gallery (Class of 1990)
  • Matthew John Markling, an attorney with McGown & Markling Co., L.P.A.; General Counsel for the Ohio Educational Service Center Association; and former member of the Lakewood City School District Board of Education (Class of 1989)

The Cornerstone Award is an annual recognition of builders of excellence. Recipients must have been associated with the school district for a minimum of 10 years as an employee or in other official support roles. Persons can be nominated or inducted posthumously. This year's recipients are:

  • Joanne Mann, a retired GJPS educator from High Point ES and MSW
  • Jodi Christenson, a retired GJPS educator from Goshen Lane ES
  • Angie Gottron, an active GJPS parent, community volunteer, and GJEF auction chairperson
