Gahanna Community School to host Open House
A Learning Environment Tailored for the Non-traditional High School Student
Gahanna Community School (GCS) officials are inviting the community to come take a peek inside at an Open House April 24, 2012, from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Opened in fall 2008, GCS is a conversion community school that works in collaboration with the Gahanna-Jefferson School District, sharing the mission that “Students Come First.”
GCS students have full access to all that Lincoln HS has to offer
including: transportation/meal service, numerous academic electives,
extracurricular activities, a state-of-the-art library media center and grade-by-grade career
GCS is designed for any student seeking a smaller,
non-traditional school setting that provides a more self-paced
structure with flexible scheduling and work study
credit. "The GCS focus is to discover what works best for individual
students and to create lesson plans that foster each and every child,"
said GCS President Robin Murdock.
Who are GCS Students?
||GCS students are high school students who desire an alternative to the larger high school. GCS offers students the ability to:
Perform better in a more individualized learning environment.
have the assistance of 2 teachers per class
recover from failing classes and/or credit deficiency .
receive work study credits
be successful despite experiencing social or emotional issues that have interfered with their academic s.
develop relationships with teachers, administrators and counselors
