Columbus Day 2012: Classes in session

Gahanna-Jefferson and most other area school districts will be in session. Similarly, Columbus State Community College and its regional Clark Hall Learning Center are also in session. However, Gahanna city offices are closed in observance of the Holiday as are most state and federal offices. The flag of the United States is displayed on Government buildings.

Columbus Day (sometimes referred to as Indigenous People's Day) is traditionally the second Monday of October. It commemorates Christopher Columbus' Oct. 12, 1492, arrival to the Americas.
