Retired High Point Elementary School
teacher Sue Boothe will host a class reunion and picnic for her looped classroom of first- and second-grade students from 2001 - 2003
Looping, or multi-year teaching, is defined as an educational practice in which a teacher advances with a single graded class of children for two or more years or grade levels. At the end of the second (or third) year in the pattern, children move on to a new teacher while the looping teacher returns to the lower grade level to receive a new group of students.
Prior to the start of the 2002-2003 school year, Booth held a picnic at Blendon Woods Metro Park for the students and parents to become reacquainted with one another (pictured
above). The practice stuck and many of the families have remained in contact with one another. Boothe retired from GJPS in 2006.
