GCS is designed for students who through a multitude of reasons are not having success in the traditional school setting. At GCS, teachers and administrators understand that not all students learn in the same manner. GCS offers a more self-paced structure with flexible scheduling and work study credit. The GCS focus is to discover what works best for individual students and to create lesson plans that foster each and every child. Failure is not an option, and staff work with students to ensure success. Those attending GCS are held to the same standards as Lincoln High School (LHS) students, and are expected to be an active participant in their learning. Parents play an important role in their child’s education, and are also expected to be a contributor in the educational process.
GCS recognizes each child as an individual and celebrates diversity. GCS is more than a school—it’s a safe environment where students can feel at ease and part of a community. GCS students still have access to all that LHS has to offer including buses, electives, extracurricular activities, lunch room, library, etc.
GCS operates on a simple Honor Code system; students and staff follow these guidelines:
Honor Code
-Respect ourselves and others at all times
-Choose peace over conflict
-Demonstrate personal honor and integrity at all times
Being a part of GCS is a privilege. With more responsibility comes more accountability. Students who have difficulty meeting the Honor Code guidelines may be placed on behavior contracts and/or removed from GCS.
