Mission Statement 
We, the GMSE staff, will be enthusiastic, passionate, respectful, and collaborative leaders who are committed to supporting each other in our efforts to create an effective student-centered learning climate that promotes student growth and success. To ensure we are fulfilling our mission we will measure the following three areas:

• The effectiveness of staff collaboration to improve instruction and student achievement
• Our work towards creating a student-centered learning climate
• The level of academic progress and achievement of our students

History
Gahanna Middle School East was completed in 1975 when the Gahanna Schools changed to a middle school concept.  It was originally built as an "open classroom" building with large open spaces and a limited number of walls separating the classes.  Currently, moveable walls that allow for flexibility in instruction and variation in the grouping of students separate many of the classrooms.  In 2000, the building underwent a major renovation with expanded music areas, additional classrooms, office space, and a new gymnasium.
