Students have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities such as football, cross-country, girls' volleyball, boys' and girls' basketball, wrestling, track, girls' softball, club tennis, and club golf. Additionally, programs such as 8th grade Cheerleading and Pep Club, Youth to Youth, Student Government, Power of the Pen, Math Counts, Spelling Team, Yearbook, Renaissance, Ski Club, Jazz Band, Dinner Theater, the annual Talent Show, and Fun Nights and dances, offer students the opportunity to grow academically as well as socially.
The Renaissance program offers recognition to students who achieve academically, have good attendance, and maintain excellent citizenship. Last year approximately 60% of the students received special recognition through this program. Other incentive programs include Honor Roll; "Caught in the Act" - a Character Education Award; our annual Awards Night; and various classroom-based incentive programs.
Gahanna Middle School South is fortunate to have strong parental support with involvement both from its parents as a whole and parents who form the PTO. The school also participates in community activities and serves as a location where numerous parent and community organizations meet.
