School Counselor

Hello, my name is Jennifer Marshall. I am excited to serve as the school counselor for Lincoln Elementary for the 2019-2020 school year. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University and a Master's degree in School Counseling from Capital University. I have spent the last 11 years in the private-sector and non-profit mental health field including the last four working with children with behavioral difficulties. I have presented at both national and state counseling conferences on counseling strategies. I have a strong belief that all students want to be caring, contributing members of their school community. All students can benefit from social-emotional learning that supports this goal and some students need extra support to meet this goal.

I have designed the school counseling program at Lincoln Elementary to follow the recommendations of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). I will be providing a comprehensive program including social-emotional learning through classroom lessons, small group counseling, and short-term individual counseling. The classroom and small group curriculum I’ll be providing is based on Ohio Social Emotional Learning Standards and ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors for Student Success. For more information, read the ASCA information sheet, The Essential Role of the Elementary School Counselor.

I welcome the opportunity to collaborate with parents and teachers to support students’ wellbeing or to provide resources/information for parents. Please contact me at MarshallJ@gjps.org if I can assist you or your child.
