With the exception of executive sessions, meetings of the Board are open to the public. During executive sessions, Board members may discuss only three types of business as defined by the Ohio law: personnel matters, the sale or purchase of property and legal matters. Since Ohio law states that all School Board voting must be done in public, executive sessions are for discussion purposes only.

The Board will evaluate how policies have been implemented and their general effectiveness. It will rely on the school staff, students and community to provide evidence of the effect of the policies it has adopted. It will be the policy of the Board to review its policies and procedures on a continuing basis in order to keep them up to date.

Bylaws & Policies

The public chooses its Board of Education candidates by the petition method. They are elected at the November general election in odd-numbered years. The Board meets during the first 15 days of January to elect a president and vice president to serve for the coming year.

The Superintendent of Schools/Chief Executive Officer is employed by the board to carry out policies and to administer the affairs of the District on a day-to-day basis. He/she is not a member of the board. The Superintendent is responsible to the Board while all other employees of the District, either directly or indirectly, are responsible to the Superintendent or the Treasurer.

The Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer is employed by the Board to administer, in cooperation with the Superintendent, the financial, legal and contractual business of the District. He/she is not a member of the Board. The Treasurer also reports directly to the Board.
