Phase Two Overview
In November of 2020, voters in the Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools district approved a 10.69 mills bond and operating levy to fund Phase Two of the GJPS Master Facilities Plan.
PHASE TWO OF THE MASTER FACILITIES PLAN INCLUDES:
Additions and Renovations to High Point and Blacklick Elementary
Space for an additional 225 students in each building.
Additions and Renovations to Middle School East
Space for an additional 175 students.
New Lincoln High School on Current Site
Space for an additional 600+ students.
Operating Funds
Filling the gap created by state cuts, increased technology costs and additional staffing due to enrollment growth.
Middle School East Renovations
Expansion of Middle School East (MSE) is in progress and will be completed in the fall of 2023. MSE, which is the district’s smallest middle school and is located in the area of highest projected growth, will increase by 25,000 square feet with space for an additional 175 students.
THE PLANS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL EAST INCLUDE
- 10 new classrooms spaces
- Flexible small group spaces
- Expanded cafeteria seating
- Enhanced related arts classrooms
- Increased special education spaces
Additions and renovations to Middle Schools South and West have been deferred due to market and labor conditions. These plans will be revisited after the final costs for other Phase Two projects are solidified in the spring of 2023.
