Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities Pros AND Cons Family Workshop

The Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities will lead a conversation regarding their service offerings, debunking misconceptions, and examining how they can best address the current and future needs of individuals with developmental disabilities, both children and adults.
Families attending the session will gain valuable insight into the services provided by FCBDD. They will have an opportunity to understand available services, misconceptions, gain clarity on misconception with accurate information, explore strategies for future planning, connect with experts who can provide guidance, and community resources that compliment the services offered by the board.

The Asynchronous Gifted Learner
Focus Area: Student Wellness
In this session, we will explore the uneven development gifted students may experience in all areas of their being. We will discuss how that impacts their schooling, relationships, and personal growth. Families will have an opportunity to discuss strategies to support their child through this asynchrony.
Families attending this session will have a better understanding of unexpected development patterns they witness with their gifted student and ideas to support their child’s continued growth.

Social Media and Drug Trends to Look For
Focus Area: Student Wellness
In this session, Detectives from the Gahanna Division of Police will share their knowledge and experience related to drug and social media trends they are seeing among teens in our community. They will share helpful information about how kids conceal illegal substances and "disguise apps" to help families be more alert of unsafe behaviors surrounding our youth.
Families attending this session will walk away with a better understanding of the common drug and social media look-fors that will assist our community with keeping our students safe.
