Kindergarten Enrollment

How do I register my child for Kindergarten?

Welcome Kindergarten Families! Kindergarten registration for children who will be 5-years-old on or before August 1, 2024 is going on now!

Kindergarten registration for 2024-2025 is a three-step process.

  1. Completion of enrollment paperwork online
  2. Once the online registration is completed, submitted and reviewed, an email from gjpswelcomecenter@gjps.org will be sent to you with next steps. If you do not receive your email after 5 days of submission, please check your spam/junk folder.
  3. Participation in a kindergarten open house session at your child’s elementary school (tentative).

Each elementary building in the district will hold a Kindergarten Open House event later in the spring. Dates for the Kindergarten Open Houses can be found below.

Kindergarten Early Entrance

We are now accepting applications for evaluations of students for early entrance to Kindergarten or First Grade for the 2024-25 school year. This process is open to students who do not meet the cutoff of Kindergarten or who wish to skip Kindergarten and enter First Grade.

Please know this is not a traditional school readiness assessment.  Rather, this option is for children who are significantly ahead of others their age in terms of academic and social-emotional development.  Please read the guide linked below carefully before deciding to proceed with a referral.

Parents/guardians may refer their child if born between August 2 and December 31.  Children born between January 1 and August 1 must be referred by a physician, psychologist, or Ohio licensed educator.  Referrals may be submitted through the online form below through May 15.  A district representative will contact families in May to schedule assessments for June.
